Ring in the New Year with the last bash of Canada’s 150th birthday. Award winning Toronto singer, Shakura S’Aida will host this last concert of 2017 with musical director Lance Anderson and bassist extraordinaire Russ Boswell. They will perform an evening of music of all Canadian songwriters, in the blues, soul and jazz style, that Ms. S’Aida is so well known for. Think of Neil Young’s ‘Heart of Gold’ done as if Etta James had recorded it, and you will have some idea of what these international artists will bring to the stage. They will play gems from 80 years of Canadian songwriting. Shakura has won Female Vocalist of the Year at the Maple Blues Awards and placed 2nd in the International Blues Challenge in Memphis TN, among many other nominations. Lance Anderson is a Juno award winning producer, pianist and arranger. His orchestral arrangement of Oscar Peterson’s iconic Canadiana Suite was premiered in May 2017 by the Okanagan Symphony. Russ Boswell is one of the premiere bassists in the country. He has recorded and performed with: Serena Ryder, Colm Wilkinson, David Wilcox, Corey Hart, Holly Cole, Carol Welsman, David Clayton Thomas and more. In addition to stellar entertainment, the Opera House is also offering a dinner and show package for $75 per person as well as a concert only option for $35. Dinner is provided by North Catering. Lance Anderson has brought the Soulsville – The Music of STAX show and Motown Revisited to enthusiastic audiences at the Gravenhurst Opera House. This show will be spectacular and a very moving way to say goodbye to 2017 and Canada 150. ***PLEASE NOTE: FESTIVITIES END PRIOR TO MIDNIGHT AT THE CONCLUSION OF THE SHOW***
